How East India Company Entered in to India
The British East Indian Company was born during a time of European trade/imperialism in Asia during the 17th century. The Dutch East Indies Company was one of the first to start European trade with the east and the British, along with the Portuguese, Spanish, and French, quickly saw the value of trade with the countries of the East. This was the background of India directly before the British began to colonize the Sub-Continent.
Of course, the weakened Mughal Empire and conflicts between it and the Marathas, Rajputs, and Sikhs, only divided India further. Had there been a unified state in India that was strong then it is possible that the British would never have gained so much control. The British were able to wage war against these smaller states and defeat all of them. The Indian Mutiny of 1857 was the last real struggle that challenged the British before the Independence Movement during the early to mid 20th century.
The English had been the third European nation which had sought to open a money-making trade with India, and which, for that purpose, had secured lodgings on her coasts. Of the two nations, which had anteceded them, the Portuguese had declined; the Dutch were declining. The vigour and energy of the race, which inhabits England, was producing, in the rapid increase of the trade, the results, which invariably follow the development of those qualities. A fourth power France, the hereditary rival of England in Europe, however began, under the influence of MM. Dumas and Dupleix, to develop, in an extraordinary manner, the resources of a settlement under very difficult circumstances, on the same coast.
Two years later the position of the two principal European powers on the Coromandel Coast was inverted. The English squadron was absent; the French squadron was on the spot. Dupleix then prepared for his rivals the fate with which they had threatened him. In vain did the English appeal to the Nawab of the Karnatik. That prince, benefited by Dupleix, refused to interfere in the quarrel between the settlers. The result was that, on September 21, 1746, Madras surrendered to the French, and was rapidly occupied by a garrison composed of French troops and of sipahis (soldiers) trained by French officers.
The capture of Madras by the French is an important event in the history of the connection of France and England with India. The effect of the battle was momentous. Never was there fought a more decisive battle, a battle more fraught with consequences.
East India Company was unique as it started its humble beginning as the mere trading company and later took over political interest and changed to the ruler of the entire country. The Honourable East India Company was often colloquially termed as `John Company`. Earlier it was a joint-stock company associated with the Dutch East Indian Company. Queen Elizabeth I granted the Company English Royal Charter on December 31, 1600. The aim of the company was to gain monopoly on entire trading in East Indies. Gradually the Company transformed from a commercial trading association to one that virtually ruled Indian subcontinent and acquired auxiliary governmental and military function until the establishment dissolved in 1858.
The East India Company was in fact the venture of some of the influential businessmen of London who acquired the Crown`s charter for special permission to trade in spices in the East Indies (presently South Asia) and the permission was granted for a period of fifteen years.
The East India Company started with a capital of 72,000 pounds and had 125 shareholders. One Governor and twenty-four directors who constituted the Court of Directors led it. For hundreds of years, the valuable spice trade with the East Indies relied on land routes through Asia and the Middle East. But within the sixteenth century, the advanced navigational technology and skills of the Portuguese enabled Europeans to make a foray in the trade of spices in the East Indies. The Spanish and Portuguese had a monopoly of the East Indies spice trade until the destruction of the Spanish Aramada in 1588, which allowed the British to have a lion`s share in the spice trade side by side with the Dutch.
There is a very interesting history behind the British East India Company`s strengthening its foothold in India. Initially, the British traders had enmities with their Dutch and Portuguese counterparts in the Indian Ocean. The victory of the company over the Portuguese in the Battle of Swally in 1612 brought them in favour with the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Probably comprehending the pointlessness of waging trade wars in distant seas, the English decided to look into options for gaining a grip in mainland India, with the authorized sanction of both countries i.e. Britain and India. The company appealed to the Crown to launch a diplomatic mission.
In 1615, Sir Thomas Roe was sent by James I to visit the Mughal Emperor Jahangir (who ruled over most of the subcontinent, along with Afghanistan). The reason for this mission was to make arrangements for a commercial treaty, which would give the British East India Company special rights to reside and build factories in Surat and other areas. In return, the Company agreed to provide the emperor with goods and rarities from the European market. This mission succeeded very well.
In course of time ships belonging to the British East India Company arrived in India and docked at Surat, finally establishing it as a shipping spot in 1608. Within the next two years, the company was able to build its first factory in the town of Machilipatnam on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. The lofty profits earned by the Company in the beginning encouraged King James I to grant subsidiary licenses to other trading companies in England. But, in 1609, he extended the charter given to the Company for an indefinite time. Moreover, there was a clause, which stated that the charter would cease by force if the trade became unbeneficial for three successive years. Attempts to set up a factory on the Hooghly River commenced in 1640, but were ineffective until 1690. This settlement later developed into the city of Calcutta.
Within the year 1652 there were around 23 English factories in India. The main factories became the walled forts of Fort William in Bengal, Fort St George in Madras and the Bombay Castle. In 1634, the Mughal Emperor extended his hospitality to the English traders to the region of Bengal (and in 1717 completely removed customs duties for the trade). The company`s core businesses were by now in cotton, silk, indigo dye, saltpetre and tea. Bombay came under the possession of the British crown in 1662, and was handed over to the East India Company for 10 pounds a year in 1668. The company had frequent conflicts with foreign contenders. Therefore, as a safeguard, it ultimately accumulated its own military and administrative departments, thereby becoming a regal power in its own right. By 1689, the Company debatably acquired the status of a “nation” in the Indian mainland, autonomously governing the vast presidencies of Bengal, Madras and Bombay.
From 1698 the East India Company acted with the motto to serve under the patronage of the King and the Parliament of England. The employees of the East India Company became so affluent that they established themselves very well on returning to Britain and earned political power too. As a result, the Company developed for itself a lobby in the English parliament. Deregulating act was passed on 1694 to establish the private business of the former employee of the Company in the Land of India. This permitted any English firm to trade with India, unless specifically forbidden by an act of parliament, thereby calling off the charter that was in force for almost 100 years. By an act in 1698, a new “parallel” East India Company was established though it failed to provide any competition for the original company. Both the companies were merged in 1702.
In the subsequent decades there were continuous arguments between the Company lobby and the parliament. The Company sought a permanent establishment, while the Parliament refused to provide it with greater sovereignty. But at this time the battle with France took all the attention away from the business. The war also occurred on Indian soil, between the Company troops and the French forces. Roughly about the same time, the Industrial Revolution took place in Britain. Demand for Indian commodities was heightened by the need to maintain the troops and the financial system during the war. The British East India Company became the single most prominent performer in the British global market, and reserved for itself an unquestionable position in the administrative procedures of the Government. The British victory in the Battle of Plassey in 1757 brought Bengal, and gradually the whole of India under the control of the company. Thus, the East India Company changed its role and became the ruling Authority in India.
Gradually the colonial monopoly of the British East India Company was established in various ways. One of them was the opium trade, especially in Bengal. The colonial monopoly of the British East India Company started with Robert Clive becoming the first British Governor of Bengal. British won over the French in many wars and French were confined only to a few areas. After that no other European rivals could succeed over the British.
However, the British East India Company faced a lot of resistance from the local rulers. The victory of Robert Clive against Siraj Ud Daulah at the Battle of Plassey in 1757 got rid of the last trace of resistance in Bengal. This victory alienated the British and the Mughals, since Siraj had effectively been a Mughal liege ally. But the Mughal Empire was already on the decline after the demise of Aurangzeb, and was collapsing into fragments and enclaves. After the Battle of Buxar, Shah Alam II, the ruling emperor, gave up the governmental rights over Bengal, Bihar, and Orissa. Haidar Ali and Tipu Sultan, the famous rulers of Mysore, also posed a great treat to the British forces. Having sided with the French during the war, the rulers of Mysore sustained their struggle against the Company with the four Anglo-Mysore Wars. Mysore ultimately fell in the hands of the Company forces in 1799, with the killing of Tipu Sultan. With the gradual deteriorating of the Maratha Empire as an outcome of the three Anglo-Maratha wars, the British also got hold of Bombay and the adjacent areas. Thus the British had control over almost all the parts of India except the Mughal Empire, which was also achieved during Sepoy Mutiny of 1857, hundred years later from the battle of Plassey.
There were many acts passed in relation with East India Company like East India Company Act 1773, Pitt`s India Act on 1784, Act of 1786, Charter Act of 1813,1833 and 1853. In the year 1858, the East India Company was dissolved and the British Government took the responsibility of administration of India.
Presidencies in British India
India during the extensive period of British rule was an extraordinary amalgamation and mish-mash of cultural unification and pitiless over-domination. Beginning from East India Company ruling, when the country was basically looked as the eastern magical land of spices and brocades, and culminating in the strict regime of Queen Victoria, British India was administered by different modes. For example, the policy of `Divide and Rule` was one such tremendous hindrance to native populace, as compared to equality in the career concerning Civil Services. With India being a colossal country, redefining its boundaries, English rulers had made it a systematic policy to classify the country by the basis of village, town and city. Since a long time, the major port cities like Calcutta, Madras and Bombay had assumed momentous importance owing to their accessibility with other regions beyond the country. These three cities had thus witnessed an overwhelming presence of English population, making it their permanent domicile. As such, trading and commerce boomed towards elevating heights, with working output adding up to both native and `white` workers. In this regard, Calcutta, Bombay and Madras were declared Presidency towns under British Indian rule. Presidencies during British India possessed an enormous periphery-line, with the erstwhile princely states being included within them.
The Presidencies in British India had primarily descended from the sagging Mughal Empire and had as such, been towing in the line of ancient Indian sovereignty. Such `old` ideas were completely done away with, as the presidency towns started to be governed in a rather western stylisation of reign. Voyages to and from England, since the 17th century was a regular feature in Bombay, Calcutta or Madras, with English settlers absolutely realising the art of how to invade and capture territories for augmented growth.
These Presidencies during British India out-and-out reflected the prototype of establishment of British trading factories and forts in and around 17th and 18th centuries. The first trading post of Surat, was founded during early seventeenth century, only later to be deserted for brighter purposes. This monumental event was succeeded by settlements on the Coromandel coast, of which Madras seized prominence and was henceforth named the `Madras Presidency`. The trading post in Bengal, headquartered in Calcutta became the focal point of the `Bengal Presidency`, the seat of the Governor-General of India, who reigned over the East India Company`s Indian ownerships. The island of Bombay which was triumphantly gained as part of dowry in a royal union turned out the centre of operations for the Konkan coast and the heart of the `Bombay Presidency`. Each of the Presidencies additionally possessed their respective Presidency armies, as was known from Bengal Army, Madras Army and Bombay Army.

One among them bent, picked and kissed the girl gently and enquired. Now pain must have reduced’.
All seven girls lifted the fallen girl, pacified her, two of them held the girl firmly and they all seven joined hands together and walked together and reached the winning post.

Do you have Problems!!! No Problem!!!
Don’t worry if you have problems! Which is easy to say until you are in the midst of a really big one, I know. But the only people I am aware of who don’t have troubles are gathered in little
neighborhoods. Most cities and villages have at least one. We call them cemeteries. If you’re breathing,
you have difficulties. It’s the way of life. And believe it or not, most of your problems may actually be good for you! Let me explain.
Maybe you have seen the Great Barrier Reef, stretching some 1,800 miles from New Guinea to Australia. Tour guides regularly take visitors to view the reef. On one tour, the guide was asked an interesting question. “I notice that the lagoon side of the reef looks pale and lifeless, while the ocean side is vibrant and colorful,” a traveler observed. “Why is this?”
The guide gave an interesting answer: “The coral around the lagoon side is in still water, with no challenge for its survival. It dies early. The coral on the ocean side is constantly being tested by wind, waves, and storms — surges of power. It has to fight for survival every day of its life. As it is challenged and tested it changes and adapts. It grows healthy. It grows strong. And it reproduces.” Then he added this telling note:
“That’s the way it is with every living organism.”
That’s how it is with people.

Money Doesnt Cost at Last
Every one of us would go through a similar phase in our lives……….
You will never know what the total cost of your education was, but for a lifetime you will recall and relive the memories of schools and colleges. Few years from now, you will forget the amount you paid to settle the hospitalization bill, but will ever cherish having saved your mother’s life or the life you get to live with the just born. You won’t remember the cost of your honeymoon, but to the last breath remember the experiences of the bliss of togetherness. Money has no memory. Experience has.
Good times and bad times, times of prosperity and times of poverty, times when the future looked so secure and times when you didn’t know from where the tomorrow will come……… life has been in one way or the other a roller-coaster ride for everyone. Beyond all that abundance and beyond all that deprivation, what remains is the memory of experiences. Sometimes the wallet was full… sometimes even the pocket was empty. There was enough and you still had reasons to frown. There wasn’t enough and you still had reasons to smile. Today, you can look back with tears of gratitude for all the times you had laughed together, and also look back with a smile at all the times you cried alone. All in all, life filled you with experiences to create a history of your own self, and you alone can remember them all. fact remains the same - cost of the experience will be forgotten, but the experience never.
So, what if it’s economic recession? Let it be, but let there not be a recession to the quality of your life. You can still take your parents, if not on a pilgrimage, at least to the local temple. You can still play with your children, if not on an international holiday, at least in the local park. It doesn’t cost money to lie down or to take a loved one onto your lap. Nice time to train the employees, create leadership availability and be ready for the wonderful times when they arrive. Hey! Aspects like your health, knowledge development and spiritual growth are not economy dependent. Time will pass… economy will revive… currency will soon be in current… and in all this; I don’t want you to look back and realize you did nothing but stayed in gloom. Recession can make you lose out on money. Let it not make you lose out on experiences……If you are not happy with what you have, no matter how much more you have, you will still not be happy.
Make a statement with the way you live your life. Respect life, live with passion.
“If you wait to be happy you will never be happy! Start living happily, you will be happy forever and ever!”

THE ART OF LETTING GO
Sooner or later, everyone you know will disappoint you in some way.
They’ll say something or fail to say something that will hurt you.
And they’ll do something or fail to do something that will anger you.
It’s inevitable.
Unfortunately, you make things worse when you stew over someone’s words and deeds. When you dwell on a rude remark or an insensitive action made by another person, you’re headed for deeper problems.
In fact, the more you dwell on these things, the more bitter you’ll get. You’ll find your joy, peace and happiness slipping away. And you’ll find your productivity slowing down as you spend more and more time thinking about the slight or telling others about it.
Eventually, if you don’t stop doing it, you’ll even get sick.
So what should you do the next time someone betrays you?
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR FEELINGS.
Even though the other person may be at fault, even though the other person wronged you, you are still responsible for your own feelings.
In other words, other people do not “cause” your feelings. You choose them.
For example, two different people could be told that their suggestions made at the staff meeting were “stupid and idiotic.” One person may “choose” to feel so hurt that he never speaks up at any other meeting again. The other person may “choose” to feel sorry for the critic, sorry that the critic couldn’t see the wisdom and necessity of her suggestions.
As long as you blame other people for your feelings, as long as you believe other people caused your feelings, you’re stuck. You’re a helpless victim. But if you recognize the fact that you choose your feelings and you are responsible for your feelings, there’s hope. You can take some time to think about your feelings. And you can decide what is the best thing to say or do.
Then, you’ve got to learn to WALK AWAY FROM DISAPPOINTMENT. It’s difficult to do, but it’s possible. The famous 19th century Scottish historian, Thomas Carlyle, proved that.
After working on his multi-volume set of books on “The French Revolution” for six years, Carlyle completed the manuscript and took volume one to his friend John Stuart Mill. He asked Mill to read it.
Five days later, Mill’s maid accidentally threw the manuscript into the fire. In agony, Mill went to Carlyle’s house to tell him that his work had been destroyed. Carlyle did not flinch.
With a smile, he said, “That’s all right, Mill. These things happen.
It is a part of life. I will start over. I can remember most of it, I am sure. Don’t worry. It’s all here in my mind. Go, my friend! Do not feel bad.”
As Mill left, Carlyle watched him from the window. Carlyle turned to his wife and said, “I did not want him to see how crushed I am by this misfortune.” And with a heavy sigh, he added, “Well the manuscript is gone, so I had better start writing again.”
Carlyle finally completed the work, which ranks as one of the great classics of all time. He had learned to walk away from his disappointment.
After all, what could Carlyle have done about his burnt manuscript?
Nothing would have resurrected the manuscript. All Carlyle could do was to get bitter or get started. And what can you do about anything once it is over? Not much. You can try to correct it if it is possible, or you can walk away from it if it isn’t. Those are your only two choices.
Sometimes you’ve just got to shake it off and step up. It’s like the farmer who had an old mule who fell into a deep dry well. As he assessed the situation, he knew it would be difficult, if not impossible, to lift the heavy mule out of the deep well.
So the farmer decided to bury the mule in the well.
After all, the mule was old and the well was dry, so he could solve two problems at once. He could put the old mule out of his misery and have his well filled.
The farmer asked his neighbors to help him with the shovelling. To work they went. As they threw shovel-full of dirt after shovel-full of dirt on the mule’s back, the mule became frightened.
Then all of a sudden an idea came to the mule. Each time they would throw a shovel-full of dirt on his back, he would shake it off and step up.
Shovel-full after shovel-full, the mule would shake it off and step up. In not too long a time, the exhausted and dirty mule stepped over the top of the well and through the crowd.
That’s the same approach we all need to take. We need to shake it off and step up.
Finally, you need to FORGIVE. It’s difficult, especially when the other person doesn’t deserve your forgiveness or doesn’t even seek it. It’s difficult when the other person is clearly in the wrong.
Part of the difficulty comes from a common misunderstanding of forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that the other person’s behavior is okay. And forgiveness doesn’t mean that the other person is off the hook. He’s still responsible for his misbehavior.
Forgiveness is about letting yourself off the emotional hook. It’s about releasing your negative emotions, attitudes, and behaviors.
It’s about letting go of the past so you can go forward to the future.
Everyone in your life, everyone on and off the job is going to disappoint you. If you know how to respond to those situations, you’ll be way ahead of most people. You’ll be able to live above and beyond your circumstances.
Action:
Identify two people that have disappointed, hurt, or angered you. If possible, select two people towards whom you still have some bitterness. Then ask yourself, “How does my bitterness serve me?
Am I happier holding on to it?
Do I sleep better?
Is my life richer, fuller, and better because of my bitterness?”
If you find that your bitterness is hurting you, make a decision.
Actually decide to let it go.
Walk away from the disappointment — which means you no longer dwell on it or talk about it. Period!

Political Instructions
Its time for Elections in some parts of India..
I am trying to put some points to Political Parties ………….
This time Elections should be held in friendly and peaceful climate…..with out any re-elections.
Re-Elections will be very costly affair to the government, ultimately ours money will be spending on those unnecessary things……
CODE OF CONDUCT – DO’s & ‘DONT’s
The Election Commission has issued various instructions on observance of code of conduct from time to time. Important aspects of the code of conduct are reiterated below:
On Welfare schemes and governmental works:
1. Announcement of new projects or programme or concessions or financial grants in any form or promises thereof or laying of foundation stones, etc., which have the effect of influencing the voters in favour of the party in power is prohibited.
2. These restrictions apply equally to new schemes and also ongoing schemes. But it does not mean that in the case of national, regional and State utility schemes, which have already been brought up to the stage of completion, their utilization or functioning in public interest should be stopped or delayed. The coming into force of the Model Code of Conduct cannot be given as an excuse for not commissioning such schemes or allowing them to remain idle. At the same time, it should be ensured that the commissioning of such schemes is done by civil authority and without associating political functionaries and without any fanfare or ceremonies whatever, so that no impression is given or created that such commissioning has been done with a view to influencing the electorate in favour of the ruling party. If in doubt, a clarification should be obtained from Chief Electoral Officer/Election Commission of India.
3. It is further clarified that simply because a budget provision has been made for any particular scheme or the scheme has been sanctioned earlier or a reference to the scheme was made in the address of the Governor or the budget speech of the Minister it does not automatically mean that such schemes can be announced or inaugurated or otherwise taken up after the announcement of elections while the Model Code of conduct is in operation, since they will clearly be intended to influence the voters. Such actions if undertaken will be considered a violation of the model code of conduct.
4. No fresh sanctions for governmental schemes should be made. Review by political executive (Ministers etc.) and processing of beneficiary oriented schemes, even if ongoing, should be stopped till completion of elections. No fresh release of funds on welfare schemes and works should be made or contract for works awarded in any part of the state where election is in progress without prior permission of the Commission. This includes works under the Member of Parliament (including Rajya Sabha members) Local Area Development fund or MLAs / MLCs Local Area Development Fund, if any such scheme is in operation in the state.
5. No work shall start in respect of which even if work orders have been issued before the model code came into effect, if the work has actually not started in the field. These works can start only after the completion of election process. However, if a work has actually started, that can continue.
6. There shall be no bar to the release of payments for completed work(s) subject to the full satisfaction of the concerned officials. 7. Commission does not refuse approval for schemes undertaken for tackling emergencies or unforeseen calamities like providing relief to people suffering from drought, floods, pestilences, other natural calamities or welfare measures for the aged, infirm etc. In these matters, however, prior approval of the Commission should be taken and all ostentatious functions should be strictly avoided and no impression should be given or allowed to be created that such welfare measures or relief and rehabilitation works are being undertaken by the Government in office so as to influence the electors in favour of the party in power which at the same time will adversely affect the prospects of the other parties.
On Transfers and posting of officials:
The Commission directs that there shall be a total ban on the transfer of all officers/officials connected with the conduct of the election. These include but are not restricted to: -
(i) The Chief Electoral Officer and Additional/Joint/Deputy Chief Electoral Officers;
(ii) Divisional Commissioners;
(iii) The District Election Officers, Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and other Revenue Officers connected with the Conduct of Elections;
(iv) Officers of the Police Department connected with the management of elections like range IGs and DIGs, Senior Superintendents of Police and Superintendents of Police, Sub-divisional level Police Officers like Deputy Superintendents of Police and other Police officers who are deputed to the Commission under section 28A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951;
(v) Other officers drafted for election works like sector and zonal officers, Transport cell, EVM cell, Poll material procurement & distribution cell, Training cell, Printing Cell etc. Senior officers, who have a role in the management of election in the State, are also covered by this direction.
(vi) The transfer orders issued in respect of the above categories of officers prior to the date of announcement but not implemented till the time when model code came into effect should not be given effect to without obtaining specific permission from the Commission.
(vii) This ban shall be effective till the completion of the election process.
(viii) In those cases where transfer of an officer is considered necessary on account of administrative exigencies, the State Government may, with full justification, approach the Commission for prior clearance.
(ix) No appointments or promotions in Government / Public Undertakings shall be made during this period, without prior clearance of the Commission.
On Misuse of Official Machinery:
1. Official vehicles cannot be used for electioneering work. ‘Official Vehicles’ include all vehicles belonging to the -
- Central Government,
- State Government,
- Public Undertakings of the Central and State Government,
- Joint Sector Undertakings of Central and State Government,
- Local Bodies, Municipal Corporations, Municipalities,
- Marketing Boards (by whatever name known),
- Cooperative Societies,
- Autonomous District Councils, or
- Any other body in which public funds, howsoever small a portion of the total, are invested, and also
- Vehicles belonging to the Ministry of Defense and the Central Police Organizations under the Ministry of Home Affairs and State Governments.
2. It is open for a minister of the Union or State to make private visits using his or her private vehicle(s). For such private visits, the official personal staff of the ministers shall not accompany them. However, if a Minister is traveling in some emergent situation, out of his HQ on purely official business, which cannot be avoided in public interest, then a letter certifying to this effect should be sent from the Secretary concerned of the Department to the Chief Secretary of the state where the Minister intends to visit, with a copy to the Commission. During such tour, the Chief Secretary may provide the Minister with Government vehicle and accommodation and other usual courtesies for his official trip. However, immediately preceding or during or in continuation of such an official tour, no minister can carry out or combine any election campaign or political activity. The Commission will keep watch on such arrangements in due consultation with its Chief Electoral Officer.
3. No Minister, whether of union or state, will summon any election related officer of the constituency or the State, for any official discussions during the period of elections commencing with the announcement of the elections. Only exception will be when a Minister, in his capacity as in charge of the department concerned, or a Chief Minister undertakes an official visit to a constituency, in connection with failure of law and order or a natural calamity or any such emergency which requires personal presence of such Ministers/Chief Ministers for the specific purpose of supervising review/salvage/relief and such like purpose.
4. Ministers are entitled to use their official vehicles only for commuting from their official residence to their office for official work provided that such commuting is not combined with any electioneering or any political activity.
5. Ministers, whether of the Union or State, shall not combine in any manner their official tours with election work.
6. Whether on a private or official visit, no pilot car(s) or car(s) with beacon lights of any colour or car(s) affixed with sirens of any kind shall be used by any political functionary, even if the State administration has granted him a security cover requiring presence of armed guards to accompany him on such visit. Art of Hugging
What Is Hugging?
Hugging is natural, organic, naturally sweet, free of pesticides & preservatives.
Hugging contains no artificial ingredients. It’s 100% wholesome. No calories, no caffeine, no nicotine.
Hugging is nearly perfect. There are no removable parts, batteries to wear out, no periodic checkups. It consumes little energy, while yielding a lot.
It’s inflation-proof. It’s nonfattening. There are no monthly payments.
No insurance requirements.
(Not after that courage’s or some believe stupid hug) It’s theft-proof, nontaxable, nonpolluting, and fully refundable. And it costs very little.
Hugging is healthy. It assists the body’s immune system, it cures depression, it reduces stress, it induces sleep, it invigorates, it rejuvenates, and it has no unpleasant side-effects.
Hugging is no less than a miracle drug.
Most of us have some type of difficulties in expressing ourselves or we just don’t share our feelings enough with the people next to us. Often it’s all because our western culture has this peculiar way to emphasize solidness and individualism in our behavior. One way to enrich communication, and at the side the best and sometimes even the worst parts of our lives, is hugging.
Hugging is one of the most complex and many sided ways of communication. Thru hugs we can spread our spoken language to the language of wider expression. In different hugs we may speak of security, confidence, trust and sharing in a manner that no word can tell. In these ways hugging someone may also do good for one’s self -esteem. “WOW, he/she is accepting me just the way I am!” The precious moments of living get also a new significance when we add hugs into them.
Adults, Infants and Hugging
Adults love to hug babies and they do it as often as possible. Adults love to hug other adults, too, yet they seldom do. The reason for this is surprisingly simple … adults are not afraid to initiate and enjoy hugging with infants because there’s little chance of rejection.
What Sort of People like Hugging?
Nice people. People who like to share things. People who make themselves and the world they live in a little happier by hugging
.
The Best People, Places, and Times to Hug?
Anyone. Any place. Any time.
The Value of Hugs
Hugs are free … perhaps that’s why so many take them for granted.
If hugs cost a lot of money, people would probably knock themselves out to make enough to buy them.
Although hugs are free, they’re worthless if they aren’t used. An unused hug is lost forever. On a planet that’s starved for affection, can we really afford to lose a single hug?
Asking for Hugs
Scientific Research Has Shown the Following:
Every human being needs four hugs per day merely to survive.
Eight hugs per day to maintain oneself at a strong emotional level.
Twelve hugs per day to grow and become a better person.
For those who aren’t always comfortable with the traditional hug, you should at least try one of the other following forms of Hugs
Some Hugging info
(Personal experience of some people)
Hi.
I have a crush on this guy (I think he has a crush on me too.) Well, every time we see each other, we hug each other. When we do hug sometimes, his chest is expanded and is tight. He squeezes me and it feels so good and warm. For some reason, we hug each other a lot this past semester. One time at a dance, he was approaching me and I said hi to him. I didn’t hug him. Then he went into the kitchen (where I was sitting by) came out and hugged my friend who was standing next to me. He then said hi to me again, and I got up to hug him. When I did, he didn’t face forward but sideways, so I ended up hugging him with my lips touching his cheeks, (or the area where men shave). I didn’t kiss him. My mouth was just pressed against his cheeks. I really can’t make further moves because of his\ authority. Also, one time I was talking to him alone, and before we left, we hugged each other. After we hugged, he asked me a question (with my arms I think\ still around him) but we didn’t do anything. Sometimes, he is dying to hug me and seeks me out to give me a hug. His hugs are so warm, sweet and cuddly. Thats all I daydream about. Ok, we hug each other a lot and I was just wondering, based on my observations \ what your opinions are. Does this guy have something for me? Is he interested in my se**ally and what does he want? How can you tell if a guy likes you by the way he hugs?
The easiest way to solve ‘problems’ such as yours is to have straight-forward discussion with the people concerned. Try asking him what those hugs mean for him. Also be prepared to tell him, how you feel about your hugs. Perhaps they are just innocent hugs. However, they may also include sexual harassment (which I hope not) or s**ual interest from either or both sides. This can’t be interpreted straight from the real acts, because they are always part of some bigger meaning structures which we live our everyday lives in. That’s why talking and sharing is so important!
Why do people hug?
In order to achieve and live in better life quality
I was wondering about the affects of the lack affection, namely hugs, on the elderly and infants. What happens when they aren’t hugged and given affection? Does affection, in any way, increase life length?
There are hard facts showing that human touch can increase life length. However, many people don’t take this seriously. In comparison, everyone knows that smoking shortens life, but still many people smoke. This is why it is important to say that hugs have more power in increasing the life’s quality than it’s length.
When should u hug a guy (if he’s not your boyfriend)?
Whenever you feel like it! There are no strict rules about hugging, so you may invent your own hugging habits.
Take it easy. People have their problems and they will always have some problems, because life is not trouble free. So don’t make up your own problems from other people’s problems. However, I don’t think it is a good solution to stop talking to her. More the opposite: you might talk to her about your confused feelings.. And finally, you don’t need to hug if it feels like an obligation. You can always politely turn her down by saying ‘I do care, but I’m not feeling good about hugging ALL the time.’
What is the effect n0n-hugging norms on society? Are societies that don’t hug more violent? Do they have higher suicide rates than societies that encourage hugging? What is the sociological function of a hug? Who invented the Politically
Correct hug?
A hug functions in a way that it often builds up coherence within the participants. In this way, hugging can reduce intergroup as well as interpersonal conflicts. Hugs may also work as images of some positive living. People making commercials have long ago realized that to use family appeal in their advertisements, it’s always more effective if the ad includes hugs.
Suicides and their connection to hugging. A difficult question. As suicide rates are higher in individualistic societies than in societies with more communal action, it is quite reasonable to assume that as far as hugging builds up coherence and stronger relationships between individuals and groups it also reduces suicidal rates. It’s harder to think about connection between violence and the lack of hugs. Maybe. I have seen too many Politically Correct hugs to give any name for the one who has invented it. It’s a shame that hugs are used as weapons in political game
.
What makes one crave hugs? I didn’t have hugs as a child, then after 3 wonderful kids & loving husband I crave hugs. I would get them everyday from them, but sometimes it was not enough. This scared me & I didn’t understand it. I was ashamed. I decided to ask my ministers for a hug cause I though it would be safe. I was turned down, which made me feel like a tramp. This was a few years ago & I’m still having problems asking & letting my guard down. What makes one crave hugs? Why do I seem to be ok & other times that’s all I can think about.
Some people say it’s in our biology, some say it’s all cultural or social. Honestly, there is no clear-cut answer to the question why one craves for hugs. However, it is quite clear that hugs are more permitted in some situations than in others. For example in institutional setting (which could be the case with your minister as well) hugging involves so many negative associations that it becomes quite difficult to judge the situation. It might be difficult to hug for example in a situation where your hugs could be interpreted as sexual harassment by someone. Ask for hugs and continue to give hugs whenever you feel like it. However, if you are turned down, don’t take the situation as a personal insult, because it can as well be a matter of situation and context.
What is the world record for the longest hug?
Even Guinness Book of Records doesn’t have any claims for the longest hug. For kissing it is more than 17 days. Kissing that long is very difficult because you end up getting blisters. Hugging doesn’t involve that type of side-effects, so we would suspect that it’s possible to hug even longer. But how long? No one knows. You could try establishing the first record and mailing it here!
What are the rules about hugging?
It’s very hard to define any specific rules, but maybe just principles for hugging. You can find those principles on this Hugging Site. Be sensitive to the situation, space, context, another person, yourself etc.
What does it mean when a woman is hugged by a male friend who rubs her back during the hug?
Maybe the male is affected to this female and wants in this way to show that he is willing to comfort and share even the bad feelings with her. Rubbing one’s back while hugging makes blood to run faster in vital organs. It’s good and helps one to prevent heart attacks!
How do you hug? Do you:
1) Pat on the back? (”Burp”)
2) Avoid eye-contact after you hug? (”No-lookie hug”)
3) Embrace so tight that the person can hardly breathe? (”Bear hug”)
4) Hold your partner with only one arm? (”One-handed hug”)
5) Only connect at the shoulders? (”A-frame hug”)
6) Allow only your stomach to have physical contact? (”Belly hug”)
7) Connect only at the hip? (”Hip hug”)
Do you recognize yourself? Is hugging a fulfilling experience for you? Are you hugging others the way you were hugged? Or have you consciously chosen to hug in a different way?
Most of the time the man or woman welcomes one with a smile. As embrace, can tell how much the person is open to touching, and to giving and receiving love, or if they are just unaware of how they are hugging.
Do you have trouble in relationship with girlfriends,. In a loving, fun way how experienced the hug. Noticed that some individuals naturally like to touch more than others. It is helpful to know whether you are a “toucher” or a “non-toucher” (on a spectrum) so that you can honor and accept yourself and others.
The individuals who are uncomfortable touching others are more likely to do all of the above hugs except the Bear Hug. Of course, that is obviously a “toucher.” In either case, it is helpful to learn how to hug in a nurturing way. Then the “non-toucher” may give a shorter hug and embrace less people but at least their hug will be fulfilling for them and the other person.
Up until now, I have addressed the unconscious hugger and the “toucher” or “non-toucher.” There is a third group of people that I refer to as the “anxious huggers.” That is, they have one or more concerns or negative thoughts that keep them from indulging in a warm, loving embrace. These may include the following:
a) “I don’t want to give the impression that I like him/her, or want a se**al experience.”
b) “I am afraid of getting too close and getting hurt again.”
c) “I don’t trust men or women.”
d) “It is only appropriate to embrace people I know and only when I want to be se**al.”
Hug is a loving action complete in itself. Our arms are made for hugging, our hearts are made to express love, and our spirit loves to express deep caring. Learning the art of hugging can improve our relationships and help us feel good and nourished with everyone we embrace. Love and nurturing is free, easy to give and receive and so necessary for our well being.
Most people seem to be unaware of how they hug and automatically do what was done to them. The art of hugging has definitely not been a subject taught in school.
If you would like to experience a powerful, safe and fulfilling embrace, try the following seven steps of a “Spiritual Hug.” You can do this with a partner, family, friend or anyone else.
Spiritual Hug
1) Look into your partner’s eyes and silently acknowledge that you are open to sharing this loving experience with each other
2) Slowly and gently embrace by wrapping both arms around one another
3) Keep your hands still on your partner’s back
4) Focus on the center of your chests (your heart centers)
5) Imagine that you are inhaling and exhaling love in the form of pink light (sending and receiving love energy)
6) Gently disengage from the embrace
7) Look again into each others eyes and express gratitude non-verbally and verbally for the healing, loving hug you just received
Give yourself, others and the world the beautiful gift of the spiritual hug at least four times a day. Enjoy it, share the information with others and know that you are making a wonderful contribution to love and peace on earth.

How to win Argument
8 Ways To Handle An Argument
Let’s face it, no one is perfect. No matter how hard you try, or how loving and respectful of a couple you are, you are bound to get into a disagreement once in a while. With a few tips though, it doesn’t have to be something that can harm your relationship. The next time you feel an argument starting to form keep in mind these 8 ways to handle an argument!
1. Give your partner enough space to voice his or her concerns. I’m sure you hate it when people interrupt you; give your partner the same respect — even if you don’t agree with what they are saying.
2. Make an extra effort to really understand what you partner is trying to say. It is very easy to fall into the trap of thinking you know what they are saying, when in fact you may not have a clue. If your partner feels like you understand what they are saying, you’ll find a way to end the argument far more quickly.
3. Don’t say something you’ll regret later. Always consider your relationship like a glass. It is sturdy, tough, beautiful and clear when taken care of, but if it is mistreated or mishandled it can end up scratched, cracked or even broken. Take care in choosing the words you say when you are in the heat of the moment.
4. Don’t bring in past woes. The past is the past… let it stay there. If you dwell on past occurrences, you’ll never find a solution for the future your partner will feel less loved and respected, and you will always feel negatively towards your partner. People make mistakes. Give your partner the chance to recover from them, and encourage and support them when they make the right choices.
5. Learn to compromise. If you can learn to compromise, you’ll find yourself in fewer disagreements. If you don’t like something, then agree with your partner to find some middle ground. This also applies the other way. Be willing to come up with alternative solutions for things your partner doesn’t like as well!
6. Realize that no matter what you say, you both may not agree on the issue at hand. An argument is typically started because you want someone to agree with you about something. You think that the other person must not know all the facts, so you begin to explain it to them. The more your partner still disagrees with you, the more upset you usually get. But, if you realize that sometimes it is best to just let yourselves agree to disagree — you’ll show your partner that you not only respect their opinion, but respect their individuality as well. You never know, maybe later on they (or even you!) might change their mind.
7. Make a commitment to talk about the situation until it is handled. It’s far too easy to run off and avoid your partner, or give them the silent treatment. Instead, make a commitment right now to each other to respect each other enough to work it out — even if it takes all night. Nothing is unsolvable when you are working together to truly find a peaceful resolution.
8. Make your relationship with your partner your first concern when you are in the middle of a disagreement. This does not mean bend over backwards for them or compromise your integrity. Just keep in mind that the person you are arguing with is your best friend, lover and soul mate. If you both keep that at the forefront of your mind in an argument, it will keep what matters most away from cruel words or intent — your heart!
Finally, I leave you with one thought on preventing arguments. Let your partner know exactly when something upsets you. I’ve found that many people tend to not speak up when something bothers them, thinking that it is trivial to mention it. Unfortunately, what happens is after repeated times of not speaking up, some small occurrence happens and it ends up being the straw that broke the camel’s back. The other partner, more often than not, has no clue what they are upset about and therefore thinks they are over-reacting. If you find yourself in this situation, deal with each thing as it happens. Don’t let things build up until you explode.

Plan a Perfect Dating
Appearance - Clothes and shoes
A women appreciates a man who looks good or at least tries to. Women take great care and effort of what they wear for different occasions and also take note of guys who do the same. Clothes is THE difference between dashing and ordinary. In addition, women do take note of shoes. It explains why they have a whole shoe rack full of shoes. Therefore, choose your shoes wisely too. Although different women have different taste in choice of clothes for men, it is generally acceptable to look neat and tidy. Here are some ways to achieve it.
1. Dressed Suitably
Formal wear are for formal occasions such as dinner in restaurants. T-shirts and jeans are for simple date at the mall. Shorts and singlets are for jogging in your nearby park and so on. You get the picture.
2. Iron your clothes
Its not a very good image to portray if your clothes are crumpled and you go out on a date. A woman will think that you are lazy and do not place any importance on the date.
3. Do NOT wear clothes with vulgarities, sexually suggestive images or words
We know that these clothes might be your favorite as it is very cheeky or portrays your style that you do not give a damn what’s happening around. However, its a definite no no for dates as its rude, insensitive and too explicit for any potential girlfriends/wives to take it.
4. Go for well known , respected brands
We do not want you to show off. However, it is always nice to wear something that lets you get noticed by your date. If branded stuff is not your thing, at least get a simple respected brand that do not portray you as a cheapskate.
5. Ask another women for opinion
Lets face it. Man are pretty hopeless at fashion. That’s why we hate shopping.(The clothes look the same anyway) To understand what is appropriate, what is nice on you, it is always good to get a female’s opinion. After all, your date is another female and it is your date that is going to judge you on your date.
Appearance - General
Not every man is born tall dark and handsome. In fact most are not. However, by looking presentable, every man can still capture the attention of their date. Here are some tips to look nice and presentable.
1. Shave before going out
No women will like the look of a rough beard or moustache sticking out from your face. Although there are the odd few who finds it sexy, chances are its better to look clean shaven and tidy. It gives a better positive image of a person who cares about the date and who takes care of oneself.
2. Bathe often
It not our fault that men have larger sweat glands neither is it our fault that men enjoy sports that makes us soak in sweat. However, it could be our fault if we do not shower frequently. Every woman likes his man to smell nice and look clean. So if you’re the type that sweat easily, be prepared to shower more, especially before meeting your date.
3. Get your cologne, aftershave out
Cologne and aftershaves are not for Gays. In fact, women find men who smell nice masculine. Just like bathing often, its also important to smell nice. After all, you do not want to spoil your first kiss with your date just because you smell awful.
4. Smile often
A smile helps to lessen the tension, projects a lively and positive image and best of all, a person always looks the best when you’re smiling. We should always be smiling as we never know who is in love with your smile. Therefore practice smiling now if you are going out on a date soon!
5. Do not slouched
Slouching gives a bad impression of a person that is not confident, weak and no sense of security. Therefore, do what your mum always tell you. Stand straight and be proud of your height.
6. Try to look healthy
Get a tan if you look pale and sickly. Beef yourself up in the gym if you look scrawny. Go running if you’re overweight and look fat. Its always important to look healthy and nice in front of your date. It projects a sunny image and women love it.
Confidence and Success
A confident man is a good looking man. Brad pitt can wear a skirt and yet look macho. However, confidence stems from success. Success in doing whatever you do impresses girls. Woman love a man who knows what they want and what they have done. The more difficult it is to achieve the success, the more impressed the girl. Here are some tips to show your confidence and success.
1. Know your goals
Women loves a man with direction. It gives them a sense of security. Even if you do not have much success in your goals, knowing your goals and letting her know that is the sign of a man who is clear and far sighted. Therefore, if you do not have goals up till now, its time to start thinking.
2. Be yourself
Everybody should be proud of themselves. It says a lot about your confidence. If you’re a goofy character, just be one in front of her instead of trying to be somebody else. A women will love you for what your are and not what you try to be.
3. Take Risks, Break rules
Everybody admires risk taker. This includes women. A risk taker is seen as brave and charming as they are doing stuff ordinary people dare not do. This includes breaking conventional rules. It explains why bad boys often attract the best lookers out there.
4. Be knowledgeable
A knowledgeable man is seen as a confident man. A man who speaks wisdom with his every word is deem more successful then a man who craps a lot. So start ordering your newspapers and news week magazines now if you have not done so.
Behavior
There’s a proper way to behave in front of ladies. It is never nice to let women see the rough side of you especially on your first date. Behavior shows your character and whether your relationship can carry on. It is a further step forward after first impressions.
1. Do be chivalrous
Its the 21st century. No doubt that men and women have equal rights. However, there’s nothing wrong to continue showing chivalry to women. Opening doors, helping to carry shopping bags, sending her home are all basic courtesy that is on the decline. However, women still loved to be pampered and there’s nothing wrong with that. Stick with the ancient code of being a gentleman and you’ll never be wrong.
2. Do treat women with respect
Do not ever make sexist or insensitive comments about women. Do not swear and curse when at the waiters just because they give bad service. Listen when your date talks and talk when she stops talking. Treat her properly and chances are you’ll leave a lasting impression.
3. Do maintain eye contact
Eye contact is very important to show that you’re interested in whatever she’s talking. Its extremely disgusting if your date is talking and you are distracted by the chick that just walked by. However, its also important not to stare at her especially if you’ve just met her as it gives the impression that you are a pervert that is following her every action.
4. Don’t get drunk in front of her
Being able to hold your liquor well equates to being strong in front of your mates. However, it is directly the opposite with women. Women hate drunkards as they are rowdy, noisy and totally obnoxious. They are a complete turnoff. Therefore, if possible, drink less if you’re out on a date. Best of all, don’t drink.
5. Don’t get touchy too quickly
When you touch a woman, it breaks down their self defense and they will only allow this when they feel totally at ease and attracted to you. Therefore, unless she touches you or you feel totally at ease with her and that she’s attracted to you. Do not touch her too quickly as she might think you only want sex.
Conversation - what to say and take note
Its always important to say the right things and things that will impress. Its also tremendously important not to say stupid things which may offend your date. You also do not want to bore your date by talking about things she totally cannot relate to. These are some things that you can mention or should take note while striking a conversation.
1. Be open minded
Do not show extremism towards subjects that your date talks about. It might just be something that she cares a lot about. Do not make any crude remarks on anything she says for the same reason. You do not want to leave a bad impression so fast.
2. Talk about common topics
Its a very common tip but its one of the most difficult to master. Man will naturally like to talk about themselves and their interests. However, there’s no harm in talking about something in which your date has a huge passion for and you find it boring. There is also no harm talking about hot topics that she might be interested in. If you really are clueless about what to talk to her about, do some research beforehand on what to say. Her friends and appearance are good resources to start from.
3. Compliment and talk about her dressing
As mentioned in Lesson #1, women take great care of their dressing and man should therefore take notice of what women wear and compliment them. However, compliment her casually as you do not want her to think that you’re totally captivated by her. You can follow up on her dressing by asking where she bought it and how much it cost. It helps her to feel important.
4. Joke
The sure way to succeed is always humor as women relates witty guys to not boring. No women likes boring guys no matter how good the impression he makes. Jokes can liven the atmosphere and creates a good impression for you.
5. Don’t talk about sports, politics or other male gender dominated topics unless she is interested in them too
Men love their sports. Sports competitiveness brings out the excitement and happiness of men. However, most women know nuts about sports. Its no use telling your date about Michael Jordon’s glorious history when she is more interested in the cute boyish basketballer on the court. Therefore, unless you want to talk about how cute that basketballer is, steer clear of sports. The same rule applies for other male gender dominated topics.
6. Lastly, Listen
Its no coincidence that women talks much more then men per day. Women love to talk and let their opinions be known. Therefore, its important to listen and appreciate what she says instead of talking all the time. It makes your date feels important.
